The Five Second Story
After a 47-day backpacking trip through South America, I left the company I was at to start my own business. From there, my love for videos grew and grew. What is on this page is a combination of that decision and my love for stories.
Anything more you need to know can really be wrapped up in the film about the beginning of my life.

A little synopsis of me.
Lexi Hiland was born in the small city of Pamplona, Colombia and adopted to the United States at the age of two. From this stems themes of culture, identity and opportunity that is laced into her work.
She has gained recognition from organizations such as NALIP (National Association of Latin Independent Producers), Purdue University, and media company Remezcla, when she was named #1 Latino Filmmaker You Should Know in 2015. Hiland kickstarted her creative career when interning under Associate Producer Steve Boyd for the London 2012 Olympics Opening and Closing ceremonies, helping with mass 'human choreography design' and working alongside British film director, Danny Boyle.
In New York City she began her work as a documentary filmmaker, embarking on her personal journey through her adoption story. This caught the attention of TEDx PurdueU and in April she was selected as one of eight speakers to discuss 'How To Produce Original Work' at West Lafayette's TEDx conference.
Most recently the film, Para Mi Mamá was one of three selected as a finalist of 300 entries, to be featured as a part of the At&T Developer Summit. This was AT&T's inaugural kick-off of the AT&T Entertainment Project contest.
She currently lives in Indianapolis and is a proud fellow with the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation. Along with running her business, she is an in- house video contractor for Firebelly Marketing. Through her creative work, she hopes to inspire others; work that focuses on the under represented, tackles question of humanity and pushes to tell the tales of those she meets.
